| Introdução
As
the world's first commercial sort for open systems, and
first third-party sort for Solaris, CoSORT has long supported
the cost-effective migration of CICS and batch (JCL) sort
applications off the mainframe. CoSORT's partnership with
Sun's
Mainframe Rehosting Program team dates back to its
Integris and Unikix roots in Europe and the United States.
CoSORT
is an established sort standard within the Sun Mainframe
Transaction Processing (Sun MTP) and Sun Mainframe Batch
Manager (Sun MBM) solutions; in 2003, CoSORT became the
demonstrated sort software in the Sun Mainframe Rehosting
Reference Architecture (Sun MFRRA). With CoSORT, mainframe
users can replace legacy sort applications on Sun's "more
cost-efficient, open platforms - often at equal or greater
levelsof performance, flexibility and scalability."
In
addition to offering rehosted sorting and reporting functionality
on UNIX, CoSORT also handles:
·
MVS and VSE
JCL sort parm translation
· COBOL sort, copybook,
and data migration
· UNIX and other third-party sort replacements
· Data manipulation and integration in the data
warehouse
· Oracle and flat-file
ETL acceleration

Descrição
By
integrating Sun's ISAM libraries directly into CoSORT's
powerful, and mainframe-familiar sort control language
(SortCL) program, Sun MTP and
MBM users can process VSAM files along with other sequential
(flat) file formats for JCL sort migration and Solaris-based
data warehousing environments. CoSORT is in many cases
faster than the mainframe sorts it replaces.
CoSORT's
award-winning SortCL interface is widely used in MIS reporting,
VLDB reorg, and data warehouse
exact-transform-load (ETL) operations.
SortCL has unique single-pass selection, matching (join),
sorting, aggregation, translation, and reformatting capability.
SortCL is run on the command line, from shell scripts,
via Java GUI, or application programs. There is also a
sortcl_routine call for API-level integration.CoSORT's
free mvs2scl and vse2scl utilities automatically convert
the JCL steps for MVS and VSE mainframe sort cards into
SortCL scripts, ready for execution. Non-sort steps can
be preserved, and data typed as 'CH' can convert to either
ASCII or EBCDIC. Note that CoSORT can convert between
these data types, and sort in either order, as well as
ASCII in EBCDIC sequence.
CoSORT's
free cob2scl utility automatically converts MF COBOL data
dictionary files into SortCL field layouts. These metadata
specifications can be copied into, or incorporated by
reference, into one or more SortCL transformation jobs.
CoSORT users upgrading from, or directly replacing UNIX
scripts can use their COBOL copybook layouts within SortCL
jobs without the need for a separate conversion pass.

Plataformas
Disponíveis
The
VSAM-enabled version of SortCL for use within the Sun
MTP/MBM context runs only on Solaris platforms. Otherwise,
CoSORT and SortCL, run on ALL commercially-available UNIX
and Windows XP, NT and 2000-based hardware. Click
here for a full list of systems CoSORT supports.
Licença
de Uso e Suporte
The
